Alison and Gustavo's Wedding

I'm pretty new to the wedding photography scene...and I've never shot a wedding by myself...and I haven't really been to many weddings either....so I'm not going to lie and say that this was a piece of cake.....this was tough...and I got a workout running around trying to capture everything and be in the right place at the right time.....I'd also like to say that the more weddings I shoot, the easier this will become....but I don't think that's true either. Setting up a shot on a typical shoot usually takes a minute or two to get the perfect settings and lighting, etc....but in a wedding you have little to no control over the lighting, angles as to where the bride and groom are standing, timing of everything (I can't tell everyone to stop the ceremony so that i can get in a new location to take the picture, nor can I tell them to slow down)...so you're at the mercy of the event and its coordinators, and you do the best you can. It also helps to have a 2nd photographer to get the angles on the other side of the room and capture what you miss...some professional photographers might actually call me crazy for doing this by myself, lol. :)

Regardless, it was fun and it's always lovely to see people united in love. I am taking a break right now, but I'll be back off to the reception in about an hour. Here's a few favorites from the first half of the day. :)

You're right, weddings are difficult. We've shot a couple and couldn't get comfortable with it. The photos turned out fine, and truthfully it's the first time I've seen one of my prints enlarged to fireplace size! It was awesome. BUT, stressful. I prefer the candids.

Your photos are lovely. I like how you focused on the rose petals, and the bouquet, which really focus on the mood of the day. You're doing great!
