How I love 3 day weekends :) My usual weekends are so jam packed with things going on that I love having an extra day to spread things out into. This weekend was no exception.
I do admit though, I am a guilty of taking Memorial Day weekend as purely a holiday, but I sometimes overlook the reason it is there...to honor the fallen soldiers who have sacrificed so much....and I do appreciate them and their lives that they gave...so I am taking this time now to say "thank you" to those soldiers who have passed, and to their families who have endured such a harsh loss.
I also wanted to share a few pictures from Sunday and Monday this weekend where I got to relax and do fun stuff with my family. Sunday was mainly relaxing at my grandfather's house, Dan BBQ'd, and playing with Caydan on the Slip n' Slide....it started as me just putting my feet in the water, and ended with me being completely soaked from head to toe....it was all fun though. :)
First, an update on Avery's garden....some beautiful growth back there....our grapes are doing wonderfully!
And our tangerine tree is still tiny (about a foot tall) but has many little baby tangerines growing on it :)
And the pretty flowers that I thought we lost after last summer...they grew back beautifully and have the first flowers on it since we bought it two years ago! (I thought they were supposed to be purple though!)
Then there's Caydan being a cheeseball when I'm trying to take a picture of the other plant we have - he stuck his head in the picture and insisted I take it...here's what i got :)
And then Caydan playing in the water....this hose is half the reason I got soaked...
And my grandpa coming outside to play too...
Poor Caydan! That is not nice Grandpa!! :) (Caydan was NOT happy, lol)
And then inside for some of Dan's delicious BBQ - Teriyaki burgers, ribs, corn on the cob (from the So Fresh Market!), and mac and cheese....yummmm
Then Monday it was off to Fiesta Hermosa...a huge fair in Hermosa Beach held every Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend....
Here's Caydan on the drive there - he wasn't really sad, I just wanted him to make a sad face cause it was cute. :)
See, now he's smiley! :)
A cute mural off of Pier Street that I took a picture of from the car window as we drove by :)
The extremely packed Hermosa Beach Pier
First stop - lunch time! Happy Meal for Caydan and the BEST Philly Cheesesteaks for me and Dan :)
Couldn't resist taking a picture of "Killer" the Pimp Chihuahua...lol :)
Caydan played the catch-a-duck game and got a dinky little stuffed puppy that he now carries around with him everywhere. :)
The swing ride for Caydan - just a kiddy one though...it went suuuuper slow. :)
Then Caydan got carried back to the car because we were all exhausted (how come I can't get carried anymore!!)
Look at that happy smile :) He's probably smiling because he gets carried and I have to walk! lol
And this was Caydan shortly after getting in the car...EXHAUSTED.
We then tried to go to the movies to see Wolverine - but it was sold out, so we went home, relaxed, and went back to the movies at 8pm and watched Wolverine (EXCELLENT movie) and then went back home and slept!!!
Perfect weekend. :)

Cayden is adorable and it looks like you had a fabulous week-end. You have a great family and I am glad you enjoy them so much. :)
That is awesome that you are so close to your Grandpa. Grandparents are the best and many people take them for granted!
I looooooooooooooooooove the picture of your Grandpa dousing Caydan! It's hilarious! And then Caydan and his puppies ... such an adorable addiction of his :)
So sweet! Caydan is having a good time. God bless the child!
