Picture a Day - May 13, 2010

Today's picture is of my Tigger and friends figurine collection.  It's a small collection, but someday it'll be larger. :)

Tigger always reminds me of Avery...for those unaware, Avery was my son who was 2 and a half years of age....he passed away in July of 2006 due to an accident.

Avery's last Halloween he had dressed as Tigger and was so darn cute.  Also as a baby he had this little Tigger toy that jumped up and down and sang...it was the only thing I could use to entertain him long enough so that I could change his diaper!

So I now have a Tigger obsession as it always makes me think of my little angel. :)

Picture a Day - May 12, 2010

I'm on a roll. :)
I even got home late today, but made myself take a photo when I got home...I am realizing that this little ritual is very therapeutic for me and really helps me to keep enjoying what I do.  It gives me a break from all of the other editing I have to do and makes me smile. :)

So here's my little, handsome man...I look at him every day and can never completely accept how big he is...he just keeps getting bigger and bigger and he's not my little baby anymore :(  But every stage that he goes through is completely lovely in itself, and there's something special about him everyday that I just love more than anything in the world.

How could you not love a face like this? :) :) :)

Picture a Day - May 11, 2010

2 days in a row!  I'm on a roll. :)
Usually my record for new initiatives is about 2-3 weeks before I forget or lose motivation...so we'll see how long this lasts. :)

Today's photo is of the Mother's Day gift that my 4 year old son gave me.  Of course his school helped him make it, but I absolutely love it.  It's a profile silhouette of Caydan, an absolutely wonderful keepsake.  His nose is a bit large in the cut out, but I love it all the same. :)

I played a bit with the image in Photoshop to make the photo a little more interesting....this Photo a Day thing is a great way for me to play around with my new Photoshop CS4 on my new Mac before I completely transition everything over to this new device...considering I have no idea what I'm doing!  Still battling that learning curve.  Slowly but surely though. :)

Picture a Day....maybe

I realized that I get so wrapped up in work and new gadgets and facebook and a million other things, that sometimes I forget 'life' and the things I enjoy about it...yes, i like my work, and i like gadgets, and i like facebook, but i'm usually spending my time on the things that frustrate me about all of those things...at least lately it seems that way....

So I'd like to TRY and get back to the enjoyment in my life....and I enjoy taking pictures, especially of things that matter to me...and I want to try and post a picture a day...it's definitely not going to happen every day...and for now it probably won't even have most days...but i'm going to try and we'll see how I do. :)

So for today, here is a pic of my sister, Michelle, and my son, Caydan.  We had our family over for a belated Mother's Day dinner this evening. :)

May 1 Mini Sessions

Hi everyone!
I feel like I've been completely out of the loop lately...I bought a new MacBook Pro last Wednesday...got a bunch of programs installed on it Saturday, including CS4 (Photoshop), then Sunday and Monday I spent hours upon hours setting my work station up with my giant external monitor, installing all my other programs (printer, Picasa, AOL, etc.), transferring data over from the old computer, trying to figure out the right color settings for my monitor (which are COMPLETELY off, I purchased a calibrator online and am waiting for it to arrive), and then trying to maneuver the Mac and its quirkiness (I've been a PC user solely for the last 15 or so years), and on top of that, trying to figure out how to use CS4.  I had just barely gotten a system down for editing photos on my ancient version of Photoshop (I have v7!), and now with CS4, everything is different...not to mention I'm using a Mac, and there seems to be a glitch in CS4 where I'm unable to use one of the features that I normally do. :(

So needless to say, I am facing a HUGE learning curve right now....and it's resulted in multiple hours of time not spent on editing....so yes, I am behind.

Last night I became so frustrated that I went and hooked back up my old, rickety, falling apart, PC just so I could get a little bit of work done.  I'm probably going to continue using it until I get my calibrator, and I'm hoping that will alleviate at least the majority of my problems.

So last night I was able to edit a few pics from Saturday's Mini-sessions (which I am also completely rethinking the format of due to a lot of last minute cancellations).  Here's a few to share with the families, and also a couple of my cute little monkey in the tree that I took the same day as well. :)
