Kristy and Dave's Wedding (continued)

I wanted to share some of the fun pictures from Kristy and Dave's wedding...because it truly was a FUN wedding!!  Music filled the air, as you can see - the band was made up of the groom, groomsmen/family, the father of the bride, and friends.  It was really an amazing reception.

Oh - and Grandma dancing was the cherry on top!  She is so adorable. :) :) :)

I can't wait to finish all these pictures so I can post more!  I just finished sorting through all of them and I'm going to start editing this week.....lots o' work ahead of me. :)

Enjoy!

Ephram (continued)

Just finishing up cutie Ephram's pictures.  He is so stinkin' adorable!

I've also been working on my black and white and sepia conversions....I'm really loving the way they turn out...I finally caught on to what every other photographer already knew - that converting your photo to black and white in photoshop (or similar) does NOT create a good black and white picture.  But I've been playing around with some different formulas and I think I got it down....I welcome any comments! :) :)

Mary Star Elementary Fundraiser (continued)

And some more photos from the Mary Star photo fundraiser!!  I think I have another 5 shoots to edit from this event...just waiting on their picks. :) :)  In the meantime I've got another 6 shoots to edit and get out, so I definitely won't be sitting here twiddling my thumbs. :)

Have a great week everyone! :)

Nicole's Senior Portraits

Yesterday I met up with this beautiful young woman to take her senior portraits.  She was super sweet and a joy to work with.  She was very patient with me as I said "Sit right here, actually sit here instead, put your arm over here, but don't put it right there, look over here, but don't really look over here, you know what I'm trying to say, right??"  LoL...yes, I'm working on my verbal direction skills...I know in my head what I want a photo to look like, but I need to broaden my vocabulary so everyone else knows what I'm trying to say too, lol. :) :)

Anyways, here's a little sneak at her shoot. :) :)

Mary Star Elementary Fundraiser (continued)

Kristy and David's Wedding (continued)

So I had wanted to post a little about this fabulous wedding when I first blogged about it, but didn't have the time then...and now I'm running short on time as well....but wanted to say that this was definitely the most MUSICAL wedding I've ever been to!

This beautiful bride is surrounded by musical artists, and it's such an awesome thing to witness...her husband is an impressive drummer, her sister has a beautiful set of vocal chords, her father also sings and plays guitar (as well as MC'd the whole evening!), her brother-in-law plays guitar, their friends play instruments and sing, there was an AMAZING singer who sang at the actual ceremony, an awesome Hawaiian style singer who sang a couple songs at the reception, and another guest who just got up on the mic and started flowing some Jamaican style lyrics...it was almost overwhelming how much talent was packed into one day!!  Really made an impression on me.

To top it off, Kristy's family had the cutest wedding tradition (you can see a sneak of it in my first post from the wedding) where the bride and groom are adorned with Mardi Gras style beads and a cute parasol, they dance around the room and form a giant conga-style line with everyone, all the guests get their table napkins and whirl them around in the air, and some super fun New Orleans-style music is played throughout all of this.  It was such a fun thing to witness! :) :)

Below are a few more sneak peeks at pictures from this extremely entertaining wedding...I'll post some of the music pictures next time. :) :)

Mary Star Fundraiser (continued)

Sharing a few more photos from the Mary Star Elementary fundraiser.

As you can see, I'm still working on perfecting this new look for photos....clients will be getting the regularly colored version as well as this new twist on their cds....it's hard for me to assess what people think about it because I know everyone has such varying tastes....I personally really like the way the faded yellow tone looks, but my fiance looked at them and really disliked it...I tweaked the coloring a bit and he liked it a little more, but still just doesn't get it overall....but I look at it and love it....it's strange how people can think such opposite things about something.

With that said, I expect that some clients will like this look as much as I do, and some are going to really dislike it....both are fine...I'll continue to offer both versions for the time being at least...I'm still tweaking it and trying to perfect it, so it's still in its developmental phase. :)

I'm also developing my editing techniques overall (which means I went back over ALL of the Mary Star photos that I already edited and RE-DID them to where I was happy with them)...I'm learning more about the advanced uses of Photoshop and the wonderful things it can do.  And I've also finally corrected the whole color viewing issue I was having with my computer, so now I think everything should look like it's supposed to (unless your computers are set to a different setting, but most should be defaulted to the right setting).

When I get my new Mac (yes - for those keeping up with me on my personal Facebook page, I'm pretty sure I'm going with the Mac, although I was almost swayed to the PC!) I'm going to perfect all of my equipment, calibrate my monitor, and I think I'm about to buy my own printer as I'm getting an awesome deal on one from a friend...by the time I'm doing this full-time (another announcement I've made on my personal FB page, I'll make a formal announcement here soon as well!) I should be all set up and ready to really take this even more seriously than I already have been. :) :)

Anyways, enough babbling - here's more Mary Star pics, working on more wedding pics from Kristy and David's wedding and hoping to post those tonight too. :)
